The best double pram is the one that fits your doorway, your boot and the age gap between your children. Price and looks come after that.

At Baboodle we've rented thousands of double prams to UK families, so we see what happens after the purchase. Families keep a double for around seven months on average. And four in ten of the doubles we rent are swapped for something else because they turned out to be too big for daily life.

This guide compares the best double prams, buggies and pushchairs in the UK for 2026, for twins, a toddler and a newborn, or a family that's about to grow. Every pram we review is one we know inside out, and every one is available to rent from Baboodle, so you can try it at home before you commit.

How to choose the right double pram

Five questions narrow the field quickly.

1. Side-by-side or tandem? Side-by-side doubles give both children the same view and the same seat, which makes them the usual choice for twins. Tandems put one seat above or behind the other, so they stay single-pram width and slip through shop aisles and narrow hallways.

2. Will it fit through your doors? Measure your front door, hallway and any tight internal doors before you choose. Standard UK internal doors are about 76cm, but Victorian terraces and older flats are often narrower.

3. What's the age gap? For twins, look for two equal seats or two carrycots. For a toddler and a newborn, a single-to-double pram with a carrycot on one level and a seat on the other works well.

4. Where will you use it? Pavements and buses suit a compact tandem. Parks, towpaths and country lanes need air-filled tyres and suspension. If you run, choose a pram designed for it.

5. How long will you need it? Most families use a double for a matter of months, not years, before the older child walks or moves to a buggy board. Our customers keep a double for around seven months on average, which is why many choose to rent rather than buy.

The best side-by-side double prams

Out 'n' About Nipper Double
Best for an off-road lifestyle

Out 'n' About Nipper Double

If your weekends mean muddy parks, forest trails or beach walks, this is the double to get. The Nipper Double is light for a side-by-side at 12.8kg, and at 72cm wide it still fits through standard doorways. Its 12-inch air-filled tyres and suspension take gravel, grass and mud in their stride, and it won Gold for best twin and tandem pushchair at the Mother&Baby Awards in both 2024 and 2025.

  • Width: 72cm
  • Weight: 12.8kg
  • From birth: yes, with the double carrycot (approved for overnight sleep)
  • Pros: two equal seats, roomy for bigger toddlers, handles any terrain, folds flat
  • Cons: no car seat compatibility, bulky in a small boot unless you pop the wheels off, not designed for running
  • Best for: countryside walks, dog walkers, twins and families who spend weekends outdoors

  • From birth: yes, with one or two carrycots

The best tandem and single-to-double prams

Cybex Gazelle S
Best all-round double pram

Cybex Gazelle S

The Gazelle S is the double we'd recommend to most families. It works as a single from birth, turns into a double without any extra adapters, and folds with both seats still attached. • Weight: 12.9kg
  • From birth: with the Gazelle S cot or a Cybex infant car seat
  • Pros: single-pram width, folds with two seats on, more than 20 seat setups, enormous storage
  • Cons: the basket is harder to reach with a lower carrycot fitted
  • Best for: most families, from a first baby to a second, especially in city homes with narrow doors
  • Rental options: single or double

  • Width: Same frame as Gazelle S
  • Weight: 14.7kg

The best double pram for travel

Babyzen YOYO Double
Best double for travel

Babyzen YOYO Double

Babyzen says no other double folds as small. The YOYO Connect clips onto the back of a YOYO² to make an inline double just 44cm wide, and each frame folds separately to roughly cabin-bag size. Babyzen calls it the first double pushchair accepted as cabin luggage, though every airline sets its own rules, so check yours before you fly.

  • Width: 44cm
  • Weight: About 6kg per frame
  • From birth: with two YOYO bassinets (the 0+ newborn pack doesn't work in the double setup)
  • Pros: the narrowest and most compact double you can get, folds in seconds, perfect for planes, trains and taxis
  • Cons: small wheels suit pavements rather than parks, and newborns need the bassinets rather than the newborn pack
  • Best for: holidays, city breaks, small flats and families who use public transport
  • Rental options: two seats, a sibling setup with one bassinet, or two bassinets

Other double prams worth knowing about in 2026

A few newer models have arrived this year. We don't rent these yet, but they're worth a look if you're buying.

  • Bugaboo Donkey 6 (about £1,560): the latest version of the Donkey, with the same single-to-double design.
  • Out 'n' About Nipper Double V6 (£725) and V6 Plus (£825): updates to the Nipper Double. The V6 Plus has bigger wheels and is designed for running.
  • Mountain Buggy Duet V4 (about £699): a side-by-side only 63cm wide, about the width of a single pram.

Should you buy or rent a double pram?

For most families, renting costs a fraction of buying, because a double is needed for months, not years. Here's what seven months (our customers' average) costs to rent compared with buying new:

Pram Rent for 7 months Buy new
Cybex Gazelle S (double) £210 About £700
Out 'n' About Nipper Double (twin seats) £175 From £659
Bugaboo Donkey 5 Duo £252 £1,530
iCandy Peach 7 (double) £294 £1,634 (Twin)

Rental prices are monthly, plus £7.95 UK delivery. Returns are free.

You can sell a pram you've bought, but premium doubles lose value quickly and selling takes time. Renting also means you can swap if your pram doesn't suit you. Four in ten of the doubles we rent get exchanged for something smaller once families try them at home. General wear and tear is covered, and of our 10,000+ rentals last year, we charged for damage on fewer than five.

Double pram FAQs

What is the best double pram for twins?

For most twins, the Out 'n' About Nipper Double: two equal seats, a twin carrycot for the newborn months, and a 72cm width that fits standard doors. If you'd like a more premium side-by-side, the Bugaboo Donkey 5 Twin is the alternative. For a tandem, the iCandy Peach 7 Twin takes two carrycots.

What is the best double pram for a newborn and a toddler?

A single-to-double pram with a carrycot for the baby and a seat for the toddler. The Bugaboo Donkey 5 Duo, UPPAbaby Vista V3, iCandy Peach 7 and Cybex Gazelle S all do this well.

What is the narrowest double pram?

The Babyzen YOYO Double, at 44cm. Among full-size doubles, the iCandy Peach 7 (61cm) and Cybex Gazelle S (65cm) are the slimmest, because they're tandems.

Will a double pram fit through my front door?

Most will. A standard UK internal door is about 76cm, and most side-by-sides here are 70 to 74cm wide. The exception is the Thule Urban Glide 3 Double at 79cm. Always measure your narrowest door first, as older homes often have narrower ones.

Is a side-by-side or tandem double pram better?

Side-by-sides are better for twins, because both children get the same seat and view. Tandems are better for narrow homes, shops and public transport, because they're the width of a single pram.

Can you use a double pram from birth?

Yes, as long as it has carrycots or seats that lie flat. Every pram in this guide works from birth with the right setup.

Which prams convert from a single to a double?

The Bugaboo Donkey 5, UPPAbaby Vista V3, iCandy Peach 7, Cybex Gazelle S and e-Gazelle S, and the Babyzen YOYO² with the YOYO Connect.

What is the best double pram for running?

The Thule Urban Glide 3 Double, which is built for jogging, with a lockable front wheel and a hand brake. Standard doubles, including the Nipper Double V5, aren't designed for running.

What is the cheapest way to get a premium double pram?

Renting. You can rent a Cybex Gazelle S double from £30 a month or an Out 'n' About Nipper Double from £25 a month, rather than paying £650 to £1,650 to buy. Most families only need a double for around seven months.
