General Information

 

What is Baboodle?

Baboodle is the UK’s first baby equipment rental subscription company, offering you access to the full kit and caboodle of the best products for your baby, for as long or as little as you need! We offer access to premium brands at accessible prices, with complete flexibility, so you can swap in and out as your baby's needs change.

Why rent?

Buying everything you need for a baby is expensive, a drain on the planet's resources, and, let's be honest, a faff. On top of that, babies grow out of things so quickly (if they ever even liked it in the first place) that it just doesn't make sense to buy.

Save money

Rent premium brands for a fraction of the price only when you need them. On average our customers will rent £3400 worth of short-term use equipment for just £66 a month in the first year (that's over 75% savings 🙌🏻). 

Reduce waste

The UK baby equipment market has a carbon footprint of approximately 280,000kg CO2e annually. The carbon footprint of an average pram is approximately 450 kg CO2e. Baboodle offers an alternative at the point of purchase, increasing the life cycle of a product and reducing its impact on the environment. Now the sustainable choice is the obvious choice.

How long do I keep each item for?

As long as you like!

Flexibility is at the core of the our offering and you can select your minimum rental length. Just return your outgrown item when you are ready. As soon as we have received the item back we will stop taking payments. If you want to return your item before the end of your selected rental length just drop us an email at hello@baboodle.co.uk.

 

How much does it cost?

Each product has its own monthly rental fee based on it's value and the costs of keeping it in tip-top condition. We have offered flexible subscription options so that you can choose what works best for you and save even more. There are no hidden costs, all you have to pay is your monthly subscription, and cover delivery and return costs. 

 

Are the items new?

Sometimes items you receive will be brand new, but we also refurbish and clean previously rented items. Every item will go through a quality and cleaning process to make sure that they are entirely fit for purpose, although there may be some signs of wear and tear that don't affect use. Can I preorder?

Yes! This is a great way to get prepared if you're currently expecting.

Simply choose your item(s) and let us know your preferred delivery date at checkout. You will be required to pay your first months subscription payment and cover the cost of delivery. This is an advance payment for your first month's rental. Your next monthly payment will be taken one month after your delivery date and will continue to be taken on the same date every month.

We suggest that if you are preordering more than one item, we deliver your items together in order to save on delivery fees.

Your Account

 

How will I be billed?

You will be billed monthly for your rental subscription. When you checkout you will be required to pay your first months subscription payment and any delivery costs. Your first subscription payment will begin one month after you receive your item, and continue until you either return or exchange your item.

You can log in to your account at any time to see when you will next be billed. 

 

How do I cancel my rental?

You can cancel your rental whenever you like by sending back your item. Visit our Returns Portal for full instructions on how to return an item. You can then let us know when you're ready to rent again and we'll send out your next item!

Can I get a refund?

You will have 14 days from when you received the item to cancel your subscription and let us know that you would like to return the item. From the day you let us know that you will be returning the item, you have 14 days to return it. 

The item must not be used and must be returned as you received it, with all packaging and labels in place. If you do not return the item in it's original condition, you will not be refunded your first month's subscription fee.

To cancel, just email us (hello@baboodle.co.uk with the subject ‘cancellation’). You will be reimbursed the full amount of the rental fee within fourteen days of us receiving your returned item, less the cost of delivery and return.

  

 

Delivery & Returns

 

How long does delivery take?

You can select your preferred delivery date at checkout. Our processing time is currently one week, plus either 24 or 48 hour shipping, so make sure you allow enough time. If you're in a hurry, just let us know and we'll get your items to you as quickly as possible! You will receive notifications to let you know when your item is on its way.

If you’re ordering an item for a holiday, or a specific date, please ensure that your preferred delivery date allows for some margin between the item arrival date and the day you need the item. Our deliveries are reliant on the courier partners we use and we cannot be held responsible for any third-party delays to deliveries.

 

What happens if I miss my delivery?

Most items will be sent via DPD. If you are not in when DPD attempts to deliver your item, they will send you a message letting you know how to organise a redelivery. For larger items, we may need to rearrange a courier delivery. If you have missed a courier delivery, please get in touch with us at hello@baboodle.co.uk.

 

How do I return my item?

Visit our Returns Portal for full instructions on how to return an item.

For smaller items (e.g. carriers, breast pumps, travel strollers, baby monitors etc):

Once we have received your return request we will send you through a link to generate your returns label. Once you’ve received your label you will have three working days to either drop your items off at a drop off point or organise your own collection. The collections will take place with your normal Royal Mail delivieries. 

For larger items (e.g. cribs, prams, bouncers etc):

We will arrange a courier collection for you at the time you give us when you register your return.

Please always keep proof of postage!

 

Packaging

If your item has arrived in its product box, we ask that you hold on to the box to send it back to us. The box for the Snoo can be folded down for storage, instructions can be found here

If not, use any box or mailer you like - if you have kept your original delivery box that’s great but we really don’t mind if we received your returns in another box, as long as the item is secure and protected. Remember to check with your courier any specific packaging requirements. 

You can find the returns slip on the Returns Portal. All you need to do is fill this out and stick it to the box. If you don't have a printer, that's fine! Just make sure the information is all written on a bit of paper and included in the box. 

What happens next?

Once your return is received and inspected, we will send you an email to notify you that we have received your returned item. Your subscription will be amended, and your next payment will not include the returned item. You will also have been given a unique discount code upon registering your return to use on your next rental.

 

How do I know if you've received my return?

We'll send you an email to let you know that we've received your returned item. If you have returned an item and not received an email after the time it should have been delivered, we recommend tracking your parcel with the courier you sent it with. How much do delivery and returns cost?

Delivery

Delivery is a flat fee of £7.95, excluding Ireland, which is £30.00.

Please note: If you order several items and the total weight exceeds 20kg, we might need to split your delivery into two parcels.

Returns

Returns from the UK are free of charge using the returns slip sent to you when you fill in the returns form. You will need a printer for your returns form. If you don't have a printer we can arrange for the courier to bring a label for an additional £7. 

 

Item Protection

 

How do you clean your products?

All items are fulled cleaned and sanitised between rentals. All hard surfaces are sanitised using Vital Baby Hygiene Aquaint Sanitising Water, a baby-safe sanitising water the kills 99.9% of bacteria, naturally, and contains no alcohol or harmful chemicals. All fabrics are steamed or laundered using Ecover Zero Non Bio liquid wash, a fragrance-free plant-based formula designed to minimise the risk of allergies on sensitive skin, or steam cleaned to eliminate 99.99% * of viruses, germs and bacteria.

 

How do you maintain your products?

All items are fully checked and tested for safety at the end of each rental. Where repairs or maintenance are necessary we only use parts supplied by the original manufacturer. We have chosen our catalogue based on the best quality of products and suppliers, so your baby gets the best of the best.

What happens if I accidentally damage my item?

Wear and tear of the item during typical use is to be expected and we will cover the cost of small refurbishments.  If the item is damaged beyond repair, lost, or stolen, we may charge you for the total estimated Replacement Value of the item. If the item is repairable, but the repair is expected to cost over £20, we may charge you for the cost of repair.

What happens if my items are lost?

Don’t worry! Drop us an email us at hello@baboodle.co.uk and we will get back to you. For the higher value items, we recommend you ensure your items are covered by your home insurance or take out separate insurance for the items, as we may charge you for the total estimated Replacement Value of the item.

 

Will you run a credit check?

Yes, in order to protect ourselves, and our existing members, we perform credit checks on new members. 

We perform soft credit checks. These are checks that may happen all the time by certain companies, without you knowing about them. It's a quick review of data, and it does not affect your credit score. You can read more about our credit checks here.
